Amid news on IDAHO celebrations around the world, the IDAHO Committee is sad and deeply concerned to share news on another hate crime incident in Russia. On May 9th, a horrifying tragedy happenned in Volgograd. A young man was severely tortured and murdered, and the detained suspects admitted to his homosexuality being a factor (latest news on that in English-http://www.rferl.org/content/article/24983812.html).
The Russian LGBT Network is now calling on all organizers of the Rainbow Flashmobs in Russia to hold a mourning action on May 17th and to add black ribbons to the balloons used at the actions.
The IDAHO Committee Team express their sincerest condolences on the death of the young man. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
