Masahat Foundation for Sexual and Gender Diversity (Egypt and Sudan) and Shades of Ebony Group celebrated the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia IDAHOTB under the international theme of this year
Alliances for solidarity
The celebration took place in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on May 8, 2018 and attended by almost 50 persons, mostly From the LGBTQI+ community and their allies .
The program included the introduction of Mesahat foundation and Shades of Ebony group and the activities of the two groups.
Also screening the videos of ( you are not alone ) campaign and a special message from Ahmed Omar, a Sudanese queer who came out in 2015,
The program also included a photography exhibition titled “Ownership Certificate”.
13 pictures portray our right to own our bodies and highlight the limits , societal, religious and legal restrictions imposed on the LGBTQI+ community in Sudan.
The program also included launching the IDAHOTB Regional Campaign in collaboration with LGBTQI+ organizations and groups from the Middle East and North Africa under the theme
#WeAreOne
(We Are One) is a regional campaign which is main objectives are to raise the collective voice of LGBTQI+ groups in the Middle East and North Africa and to help strengthen collaboration with allies and coalitions building in MENA region.
