Every year until 2020 we used to feature on Country Pages, which can be accessed via the interactive world map, as much information on May 17 events as we could find. We are currently unfortunately not in a capacity to do so anymore until further notice.

Country pages now only feature announcements of events that were directly registered on our site.

Event: Four Pillars IDAHOBIT stall
Direction: Four Pillars – an Aberdeen LGBT+ charity will be setting up a stall in Aberdeen City Centre in order to raise awareness of IDAHOBIT and provide information about resources available to LGBT+ people within the city.

Time: 10:30am – 14:30am
Info: A stall will be set up between the hours of 10:30 and 14:30 in the heart of Aberdeen City Centre.
This stall will be operated by LGBT+ outreach coordinators who will provide a friendly and informative chat with anyone who engages, and sign-post local services and resources that are available to members of the community throughout the city.

Info: Let’s Talk About IDAHOBIT is the first of four events in a series of discussions delivered by Action for Children’s Celebrate Network.

The event will be an opportunity for colleagues from across the organisation to come together and learn about International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, discuss actions that we can all take to support the day and the LGBTQ+ community, and explore how we can ensure we’re spreading the word about the importance of IDAHOBIT.

The event will take place online, 12:30-13:30 (GMT) on Tuesday 17th May 2022.

In this webinar we will explore the concepts of gender euphoria and gaga feminism. The former has been described by some trans people as the joy that they have felt when they first experience an unbounded sense of self. Gaga feminism, for Halberstam, is an attempt to open gender up from the limited and limiting cis-het binary and to celebrate other genders and gender identities. Gaga feminism is a call for feminists to be creative in how we understand and live our genders unlimited by the societal conventions and norms of patriarchy.

Event: IDAHOBIT Online Event – Our Bodies, Our Lives, Our Rights!

The event is an open and inclusive space for people from LGBT+ communities and allies who are interested in learning more about LGBT+ rights in the UK. The theme for this year’s IDAHOBIT is “Our Bodies, Our Lives, Our Rights!” and this event will be a supportive and welcoming environment to share insights and to discuss the challenges and opportunities people experience living as an LGBT+ person in the UK today.
