TIRANA PRIDE, MAY 20, 17:00, REJA!

Do you dare to open your heart and move forward? We do!

On May 20, we gather in the capital, but not far from the daily life and problems of the suburbs, where violence drowns the hope of LGBTI+ young men and women for a future where they can live their true selves. On May 20, we march in Tirana, where despite the colorful facades and the image of a false security, our lives, of our community, must still be lived amidst fear and closed between four walls.

We march with full confidence that the hatred that attacks us and the homophobia that tries to intimidate us will never succeed in suffocating our hope and inspiration.

We will be hundreds in the parade, but thousands in every city of Albania, because we are your friends and family, the professionals who take care of you, the teachers who educate your children and the policemen who protect you and society. We are journalists and truth tellers, lawyers and social workers, engineers, academics, artists of Tirana and workers of the suburbs. We are here to stay, to defend our right to social, legal and political recognition, the right to have a family and to live our love in all its colors, beyond the four walls and borders where homophobia and transphobia try to keep us keep closed. After many years in the dark and after a decade of Pride and activism, we will continue to rise above the smoke and darkness that tries to suffocate our hope, for our rights and for the rights of those that society did not support for years.

This Pride, we come as we know best, full of color and with hearts open for more love and solidarity.

Come on May 20!
