Early birds are starting to announce IDAHOT 2016 events. As part of this, we got news from Stand Up Events a Melbourne based group which aims to gather a 5000-strong crowd to march against heteronormativity !
“Stand Up Events was conceived in early 2015 in a bid to confront the social prejudice that many members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer (LGBTIQ) community experience within the arena of Australian sport.
Through a range of participatory events we aim to provide a unique and powerful platform for people to show their support, express their concerns, and stand up for equality in a safe and fun environment.
Stand Up Event’s inaugural celebration, Move in May, kicks off in 2016 in support of International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.
Move in May is not a pride or demonstration march. It is an open-minded fun run that will involve inspirational speakers, a unique run, and a post-event celebration that caters for absolutely everyone!
The aim of Move in May is to welcome all members of the community, rainbow or otherwise, as a sign of solidarity within Australian society and its love of sport. This unique event is a running (and walking!) adventure. Following the completion of the Fun Run, a range of speakers, entertaining acts, food, drink and dancing will entertain the crowd for hours. Move In May is a space for celebration, awareness and awesomeness.
If you want to show the world that you stand up for equality, diversity and inclusion then this is the event for you!!
