Over the years LGBT and partners have collaborated in hosting appropriate event with key stakeholders and partners commemorating the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and biphobia raising social consciousness demanding acceptance, tolerance and inclusiveness despite the legal environment that limited access to justice and increases homophobia.
However, it is against this background that LIPRIDE in collaboration with organizations, networks, and partners of the LGBT community will hold a one day symposium bringing together relevant stakeholders, partners, and development partners to discuss the obligation of the government in promoting and protection of the rights of persons of sexual orientation and gender identity. This is going to leverage on research and report highlighting the vulnerabilities and increase human rights violations of LGBT persons. The 2019 IDAHOT is also going to be more concentrated on relevant issues which also see the launching of the United Nations Office of the high Commission on Human Rights LGBT situation report in Liberia 2018.
