LGBT rights activists in Malaysia joined the IDAHOT commemorations, in various ways in 2013, including through various online actions. This week they launched a web-based video campaign to challenge transphobia. The campaign asks questions, in particular, of what it means to be a trans* ally?
Organisers advised, ´This educational video campaign is specifically designed to raise awareness regarding the trans* community, in hopes to foster understanding and promote tolerance and acceptance in this society towards trans people and subsequently bridge the gap between the trans* community and the society.´
