IDAHOT Events 2015: Mongolia – Artivism

The LGBT Centre in Mongolia once again celebrated the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia through art while also focussing on the global theme LGBTQI Youth.

Announcement before May 17:

The team at the LGBT Centre Mongolia has announced that they were working on showcasing a multimedia exhibition on youth activism and art+activism=artivism for LGBT rights on 17 May 2015. The exhibition will show the videos of the Centre’s youth leaders and volunteers, three all in all, a video of the performance art piece “Love Bus”, plus the paintings and other artworks around SOGIE issues.
Additionally, they also hope to be able to launch a campaign “Human. Equal” that will target the wider public to end discriminatory mentality against LGBT people.

The LGBT Centre in Mongolia was founded in 2007 and is the first LGBT human rights organisation of Mongolia. Its mission is to “uphold, protect, and promote the human rights of sexuality minorities, namely lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgendered persons” and “to promote the correct understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity within Mongolian society.” The centre is located in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia.
