Join Wyndham City to Acknowledge IDAHOBIT Day
IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia) is a day to stand against LGBTQIA+ discrimination. It’s a day for the whole community to come together to activate, educate and drive change!

Wyndham City invite you to join together to raise the Rainbow Flag to show solidarity with the LGBTIQA+ Community and hear from Dr Yves Rees (they/them), an award winning writer, historian and editor.

Followed by morning tea.

Programme:

  • 9:15am flag raising;
    • 9:30am IDAHOBIT welcome;
    • 9:35am keynote in conversation with Dr Yves Rees (they/them) — award-winning writer, historian and podcaster, Senior Lecturer in History at La Trobe University, author of ‘All About Yves: Notes from a Transition’;
    • 10:25am light refreshments and morning tea.

    About the Speaker:

    Dr Yves Rees (they/them) is an award-winning writer, historian and podcaster based in Naarm/Melbourne, and a Senior Lecturer in History at La Trobe University. They are the author of Travelling to Tomorrow (NewSouth, 2024) and All About Yves (Allen & Unwin, 2021), co-host of the Archive Fever history podcast, and co-editor of History Australia. Rees is a recipient of the ABR Calibre Essay Prize and the Serle Award, and a finalist for the 2025 Marilyn Lake Prize. Their writing has appeared in the Guardian, The Age, Meanjin, Griffith Review and Australian Book Review, among others.
