IDAHOT Report 2015: Spain

As always, Spain’s various organizations within the civil society were part of the celebrations for the May 17, International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
In Madrid, in order to show the significance of the day, several LGBT organizations led by Arcópoli and COGAM, built an arch of balloons in the colors of the rainbow and printed posters to be shared with information on cases of homophobic attacks in Madrid .
In the Canary Islands, activities were led by the Canary Foundation Triangle who signed an agreement with the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to focus its activities in the capital of the Canary Islands.
The “17M IDAHOT Santa Cruz” developed actions with different target audiences including: students of secondary education, the School of Arts Fernando Estevez, the Official School of Languages ​​and associative youth centers, sports and artistic town Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Among the activities developed are a number of talks aimed at young people on LGBTI issues, including:

• What is homophobia, transphobia and biphobia?
• Current events of the global LGBTI community?
• Human Rights and LGBTI rights?
• How can we tackle discrimination?
• A photo contest, illustrations, micro-short micro-story competition

Other actions are also being developed by groups in Valencia, Tenerife, San Sebastian and La Coruna.
