From Barcelona to Palermo, a month of vigils of pray for “overcoming homophobia, transphobia and any discrimination”.

In the month of May, from Thursday 11 to Monday 28, a long journey of prayer vigils and torchlight processions “for overcoming homophobia, transphobia and any discrimination” will pass the baton, for the eleventh time, from Milan to Seville, from Palermo to Barcelona, passing through Alessandria, Lucca, Pescara and many other Italian and Spanish cities.
Evangelical communities and Catholic parishes will celebrate together with LGBT Christian groups several ecumenical vigils with a special mark on May 17 (International Day Against Omophobia & Transphobia-IDAHOT) united by the biblical verse “ you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8 , 32) and from the invocation “You love everything that exists; you do not despise anything that you have made; because it is yours, and you love every living thing.“(Wisdom 11,24-26).

Since 2007 the vigils are an ecumenical initiative of hope started in Italy by Progetto Gionata (https://www.gionata.org), aimed to remember the victims of the violence of homophobia and transphobia in our society. Women and men despised, beaten, marginalized in our society, and even in our churches, just because they are gay, lesbian, trans, just because they are as God wanted them.
