LGBTQ+ Economic Roundtables in Belize: From Data to Inclusion

Location: Belmopan, Belize
Date: 16 May 2024, 9:00
Info: The US Embassy in Belize, in partnership with the United Belize Advocacy Movement (UniBAM) and Koppa: The LGBTI+ Economic Power Lab, will convene a first-ever LGBTQ+ data and economic roundtable in Belize. This roundtable will provide a framing to advance LGBTQ+ issues through an economic inclusion lens, and draw in institutions and stakeholders that have otherwise overlooked LGBTQ+ people, and sensitizes them on how to act. This roundtable will also launch the newly published report, “A Legal & Empirical Analysis of LGBTQ+ Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights: A Case Study of Belize” with policymakers, the economic development community, and other key stakeholders. The report will be published by UniBAM and Koppa on IDAHOTB, and uses a legal analysis and empirical analysis on LGBTQ+ economic exclusion throughout the country.
