IDAHOBIT: Launch of the Maltese LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy & Action Plan 2023-2027

Info: This event will launch Malta’s LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy & Action Plan 2023 – 2027 in addition to providing an opportunity for attendees coming from various areas (ex. health, politics, education, activism) to network and discuss with others involved in the field of LGBTIQ+ rights, equality, support and visibility.
The LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy & Action Plan 2023 – 2027 is the third national action plan with an LGBTIQ+ focus, and calls for improvements and reforms in various areas including education, sport, health and asylum.

During the event two panels will be held:
1) Language as a Reflection of Society: the Gender Binary in Maltese Language; and
2) A Celebration of Diversity: the Final Stretch before EuroPride Valletta 2023.

Malta has held first place in ILGA-Europe’s annual Rainbow Map and Index for seven consecutive years and will be hosting EuroPride this year, 2023.

Info: On Wednesday 17 May we celebrate IDAHOT – The international day against homophobia and transphobia. The activity is organized by the JC Diversity Committee to raise awareness amongst our students. We have been holding an activity on this occasion for many years. The activity will be in the College Foyer between 9.00 and 12.00. We set up a stand with information for students and we also sell rainbow cake and cupcakes to raise funds for the committee. The activity is organised in conjunction with MGRM – The Malta Gay Rights Movement.
