Info: For over 10 years, Sheffield has held a public rally on IDAHoBiT culminating in a ‘1 minute noise’. This idea of noise as opposed to silence has been adopted by other cities in the UK and in other countries. (Whistles and ear plugs will be available!) There will be contributions from a range of LGBTQ+ organisations and individuals with a variety of public speakers and contributors.

Info: On 21 March the Ugandan government outlawed the right to identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community in Uganda. The Ugandan LGBTQIA+ community is seeking to survive this new law in a number of ways. This event will explore the history of the LGTBQIA+ community in Uganda, the laws that have been used to oppress them, and the ways in which we can support them as they face this most recent challenge. As well as presenting information about this community, this event will also serve as a space for questions and discussion regarding this community and how best to provide them aid. As a warning for attendees, sensitive issues and topics will be discussed.

Info: As part of Aberdeenshire Wellbeing Festival, Berkeley Wilde and Abhainn Macleod join us for a collaborative talk between Four Pillars and The Diversity Trust. They’ll be talking to us about the meaning and theme for IDAHOBIT – the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia which is celebrated across the world in May. They’ll also be sharing facts and stats from the journeys of solidarity movements aligned with the LGBTQ+ communities, including the intersections of race, class, gender and other struggles for liberation.
Berkley is the Founder and CEO of The Diversity Trust, a community interest company whose mission is to ‘influence social change to create a fairer and safer society’, and who now have an office in Huntly. Abhainn is one of the LGBT+ Outreach Coordinators at Four Pillars, a Grampian charity dedicated to supporting the mental, emotional, physical, and sexual health of the LGBT+ community.

Info: forum+ is proud to present an online event to commemorate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
This online event will explore the origin and importance of IDAHOBIT, provide you with insight into the work of forum+, and will cover some practical ways we can all stand together in support of LGBTQ+ inclusion.
We are delighted to present a conversation with Rita Hirani, co-founder of legendary Club Kali, social entrepreneur and trainer.
Comments, contributions and questions will be very welcome from attendees. The event is an open and inclusive space for people from LGBTQ+ groups and communities, and allies, who are interested in learning more about LGBTQ+ rights and how we can all stand “Together Always, United in Diversity”.
There will be an opportunity to share insights, network, and to discuss the challenges and opportunities people experience living as an LGBTQ+ person in the UK and internationally today.
