May 17 marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB). In many countries, sexual and gender minorities continue to be among the most marginalized individuals and groups, often facing discrimination and exclusion from key services including health, education, and housing.

As COVID-19 continues to have wide-reaching impacts across the globe, it is important to understand the differentiated impact the pandemic has had on the most marginalized groups. This pandemic has exposed deep inequalities that demand a more inclusive approach to ensure no one is left behind, including sexual and gender minorities.

Join the World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Inter-American Development Bank, and Asian Development Bank for a virtual program of events commemorating IDAHOTB 2021 and this year’s global theme: “Together: Resisting, Supporting, Healing.” Together, we remain committed to coming together to draw attention to the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on sexual and gender minorities and supporting inclusive responses and recovery measures.
