Info: The Women in Machine Learning & Data Science (WiMLDS) Meetup aims to inspire, educate, regardless of gender, and support women and gender minorities in the field. We are back for our 25th edition!

We are back with a special “hors-série” event : an online meetup dedicated to the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

Happening on the 17th of May every year, we are organizing our meetup 3 days prior to the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. This day aims to raise awareness of LGBT rights violations and stimulate interest in LGBT rights work worldwide. This year’s theme is “Breaking the silence” : https://may17.org/

19:10 – “Coding For Humans” by Paola Ducolin, Staff Engineer @ Dashlane

Abstract: We live in a product development world that changes rapidly. User needs are uncertain, stakeholders’ goals consequently change, product managers and designers want to AB test different solutions to attract and retain more customers, and if this was not enough, technology stacks change too. This talk gives a few tips that are helping me and my team at Dashlane iterate more efficiently over our software, writing readable and well documented code, with refactoring as goal instead of as a nightmare.

19:40 – “Data Science for Everyone – A talk on teaching data science” by Charles Tanguy, Data Scientist @ Jedha Bootcamp

Abstract: Ever since exponential increase in production, storage and movement of data, data science has grown central to our lives, pervading all industries and giving new dimensions to every job. So how do we face the growing needs for data savvy workforce in both companies and public institutions? The answer lies in educating and training new data scientists, and teaching other professionals to integrate data into their worklife. This talk will present my views on how to train data scientists from ground zero to operational level quickly and well.
