DESCRIPTION:Guided Tour – ‘Coded Blooms’ Exhibition \nJoin us for a guided tour of the latest exhibition of CODED BLOOMS I flowers have never been innocent at MAPh. \nThis event is being held in recognition of IDAHOBIT (International Day Against LGBTIQA+ Discrimination). \n📅 Date: Saturday 16 May\n🕛 Time: 12:30pm – 1:30pm (arrive at 12:15pm)\n📍 Location: Museum of Australian Photography\, Wheelers Hill\n🍃 Light refreshments provided  \nCODED BLOOMS begins with the American artist Robert Mapplethorpe\, whose flower photographs\, drawn from the collection of the National Gallery of Australia\, provide a charged framework for the exhibition. From here\, Pat Brassington\, Del Kathryn Barton\, Jake Preval and Meng-Yu Yan push the floral beyond polite still-life traditions into new\, unruly terrain\, exploring the psychological\, the sensual\, the bodily and the relational. Every petal\, shadow and pattern becomes a coded signal\, revealing what is hidden\, forbidden or quietly radical. \nThis event is designed for LGBTIQA+ community members and allies\, offering a welcoming space to connect\, reflect\, and celebrate queer stories through the power of photography. \nAttendance is FREE\, but registrations are essential. \nWe look forward to sharing this meaningful experience with you and standing together in support of inclusion and pride across our community.
