DESCRIPTION:IDAHOBIT marks the anniversary of the World Health Organization removing homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. \nIDAHOBIT is now a day of action\, awareness and celebration for the LGBTQIA+ (lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, queer\, questioning\, intersex\, asexual\, aromantic and more) and queer community\, and allies are urged to celebrate\, enact change and raise awareness. \nThe goal is for every school\, institute\, and work area to submit at least one to the Bake Off. Groups or individuals are welcome to make submissions. Everyone is invited to attend the event and buy one of the cakes! \nThis competitive annual event shows visible support for LGBTQIA+ communities and raises money from the sale of the bake-off submissions for the LGBTQIA+ Bursary. There are also multiple ways to donate to the bursary at the event. DESCRIPTION:The Rainbow Forum is an important annual event in Armenia and the country’s largest queer activist gathering\, bringing together LGBT+ people and allies\, activists and human rights defenders\, professionals\, and parents. \nIn 2026\, we are once again organizing one of the most significant events of the LGBT+ movement — the 11th Rainbow Forum — under the theme: “Compliance or Resistance”. \nAs war\, repression\, and political instability continue to intensify across the world and the region\, safe spaces for LGBT+ people are increasingly threatened. Many are forced either to resist or to leave their countries in search of safety\, often arriving in Armenia. At the same time\, the upcoming elections in Armenia are accompanied by renewed waves of manipulation and growing anti-LGBT+ and anti-gender rhetoric targeting women\, trans\, non-binary\, and other non-heteronormative people\, as well as defenders of women’s and LGBT+ rights. \nThis year’s forum is about our response. \nThe Rainbow Forum creates a safe and inclusive platform where participants can raise issues that matter\, share experiences\, support one another\, and take part in conversations about meaningful change for the LGBT+ community in Armenia. It is also an opportunity to learn from experienced activists\, human rights defenders\, and allies who continue contributing to equality\, dignity\, and justice.

It is marked around the world each year on May 17 as a day of action\, awareness\, solidarity\, and visibility for LGBTQIA+ people.\nThe date recognizes the World Health Organization’s May 17\, 1990 decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases. You can learn more about the international day at may17.org.\nAlthough IDAHOBIT is observed globally\, this will be the first time Bermuda publicly marks the day in this way.\nWe are doing this because LGBTQ+ Bermudians and residents still face harm caused by homophobia\, biphobia\, transphobia\, shame\, public ridicule\, bullying\, discrimination\, and silence. These harms affect people at school\, at work\, in families\, in faith spaces\, online\, and in public life.\nFor many LGBTQ+ people\, especially young people\, this can lead to isolation\, poor mental health\, fear\, and a deep sense that they do not belong. Transgender and non-binary people in Bermuda face added stigma\, misunderstanding\, and gaps in safety\, healthcare\, and legal protection.\nOUTBermuda has also recently completed Bermuda’s first national LGBTQ+ survey and research project\, in partnership with Global Research. This has been a historic opportunity for LGBTQ+ people connected to Bermuda to share their experiences\, needs\, concerns\, and hopes for the future.\nWe will use the data from this research to better advocate for and serve our community. We also plan to publish the findings to help amplify the voices\, contributions\, and needs of LGBTQ+ people connected to Bermuda.\nTogether\, IDAHOBIT and this research project mark an important moment for Bermuda. This year\, the day is being observed worldwide under the slogan ‘In the Heart of Democracy.’\nTo mark this day\, as part of the LGBT Centre’s ‘Art for Rights’ initiative\, a photography exhibition will be held at Hөх Нар Сав Space from 15 to 28 May 2026. The exhibition opening will take place on 15 May 2026 at 18:00. \nThe ‘Art for Rights’ initiative aims to promote the understanding of human rights through art\, support artists on LGBTQI+ themes\, and create a space for queer artists. Art is a powerful tool that not only critiques social\, political and cultural realities but also calls for positive change and spreads love and pride.\nTo cite the history of AIDAHOBIT Day\, on 17 May 1990 —when the World Health Organisation officially removed same-sex orientation from its list of mental disorders—was a particularly significant event for the LGBTQI+ movement. Subsequently\, in 2004 the United Nations recognised this day as a human rights day\, and it has been celebrated worldwide.\nIn Mongolia\, IDAHOBIT has been celebrated since 2011\, and within this framework\, science-based\, factual information about sexual orientation\, gender identity and expression is disseminated to the public\, organising multifaceted activities aimed at fostering a culture of respect for human rights.\nThe exhibition will encompass various forms and genres of contemporary photography\, bringing to the public works that express the lives\, experiences\, and voices of LGBTQI+ people through art. Of the more than 80 works submitted\, 65 have been selected to be exhibited\, and will also be featured in Pride magazine and the exhibition catalogue.\nThis exhibition will be a significant event\, uniting the values of art\, human rights and democracy\, and fostering understanding\, empathy and mutual respect among the public. \nExhibition hours: 15th–28th May\, 11:00–19:00.
