Audre Lorde reminds us that self-care and collective care are inseparable parts of our resistance. In commemoration of IDAHOBIT 2026\, PurpleCode Collective and Kolektif Merawat Ingatan present a space to share stories\, feelings\, and hopes about the interweaving of care and resistance by watching and reflecting on the documentary A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde (1995\, Third World News Reel\, restored version) and a short film compilation by Koalisi Kebebasan Berserikat (KKB). \nThe session will continue with a creative response activity co-facilitated by the organizers\, where participants are encouraged to respond to the life and works of Audre Lorde and the three short films through writing\, creating\, or other forms of response.

DESCRIPTION:Zagreb Pride Month starts with a public flag‑raising for the International Day Against Homophobia\, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on 17 May\, marking visible support for LGBTIQ+ people across the city center. Rainbow\, Zagreb Pride\, and trans flags go up on the main flagpoles on Ban Jelačić Square\, King Tomislav Square and other central spots. This ceremony has opened Pride programming since 2007 and now leads into the 25th Zagreb Pride March in June. \nYou can see the flags throughout the day across the central squares\, with crowds\, press and plenty of photo angles. The 2026 edition follows the global IDAHOBIT theme “At the heart of democracy\,” highlighting queer rights as part of public life. As our region continues to be ravished by conflicted inflicted by the US and Israel continuing patterns of colonialism and destruction\, today we revolt\, and we use our street language to say FCK homophobia\, FCK l’homophobie and in our tongue ك س م الهوموفوبيا\nWe intentionally used street language\, passing under META radar through missing vowels and irregular text spacing (arabic) the colonizer who brought homophobia into our communities understands only street language\, and we are here to stand our ground\nThe song we used is also a very popular underground song\, where the singer asks her lover that they elope\, in our case it was a perfect match: “Baby\, would you like us to get married in secret\, and go live away from everyone…”

DESCRIPTION:Blue Mountains City Council will mark the International Day Against Homophobia\, Biphobia\, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) with a Pride flag raising and free community event on Sunday 17 May 2026.   \nThe Progress Pride flag will be raised at 9am at Peace Park\, Civic Place\, Katoomba\, followed by a community event from 10am to 12pm at Tibbi Whalan Hall\, Katoomba Civic Centre. \nThe event will feature panel discussions\, a photo retrospective\, creative activities\, and stalls from local organisations\, offering a welcoming space for people of all ages to come together in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. \nBlue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said Council is proud to stand alongside the community in recognising IDAHOBIT each year. \n“Council is proud to support IDAHOBIT and to stand with our LGBTQIA+ community\, their families\, friends and allies as we reflect on the progress that has been made and the work that still lies ahead\,” Cr Greenhill said. \n“Flying the Progress Pride flag sends a clear message that the Blue Mountains is a place where everyone is valued\, respected and safe\, and that discrimination\, hatred and intimidation have no place in our community. \n“This year’s theme\, ‘At the Heart of Democracy’\, reminds us that fairness\, inclusion and equality are fundamental to a strong and healthy society.
