INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA, BIPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA (IDAHOTB) is a worldwide celebration of sexual and gender diversities through spoken word, poetry, art, music and more and our event will be held at JJ\u2019s Roadhouse located at 2300 Huron Church Road on Wednesday, May 17, 2025 and is an all ages event.<\/p>\n<p>5:00pm \u2013 6:00pm:<br \/>\nRoundtable Discussion \u201cThe Power of Communities\u201d hosted by Mel Lucier with speakers Anold Mulaisho, Dan MacDonald, Melanie Garant, Stefanie Pest and Steve Ghikadis.<\/p>\n<p>6:00pm \u2013 8:00pm:<br \/>\nCommunity Showcase featuring poetry, music and performances from local individuals.<\/p>\n<p>8:00pm:<br \/>\nKaraoke with Mel Young<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe power of communities\u201d reflects the diversity and richness within LGBTQIA+ communities, from the grass roots to the global, celebrating our varied and intersecting backgrounds, identities, and experiences. The theme for 2025 highlights the strength and resilience that emerges from our collective solidarity, recognising the contributions of human rights defenders, 2SLGBTQIA+ civil society groups, allies, and the people in our communities who support human rights and collective liberation.<\/p>\n<p>Fun, informative, heart-wrenching, and sometimes hilarious, this event explores perspectives and thoughts on the impact homophobia, transphobia and biphobia has had on all of us in the community by members of the community like you. It\u2019s a fun, lively night, a roller coaster of emotion and never ceases to be a fascinating exploration of this region\u2019s perspective on our small, but mighty 2SLGBTQIA+community.
